Darlington manager Mark Cooper did not pull any punches following his team's 2-2 draw with Altrincham during midweek. Quakers came back from two goals behind in the closing stages of the match to gain a point. An own goal and a late Tommy Wright header ensured that Darlington travelled back to the North East with something from their first away game. [Read more]
Darlington staged a dramatic comeback against Altrincham to claim a share of the spoils. The visitors were second best for much of the game but showed spirit and determination to salvage a late point. The home side led 2-0 with just twelve minutes left to play but substitute Tommy Wright was centre stage as Darlington battled back for a point and Altrincham, for the second game in a row, conceded a late goal. Quakers start their away campaign with a trip to Altincham tomorrow night. Darlington got their Blue Square Premier season off to a winning start with a 1-0 home victory over newly promoted Newport County at the weekend. Darlington looked solid during the first half but will be hoping that goalkeeper Sam Russell has far less to do in the second period this time around. [Read more]
Darlington needed an excellent second half performance from goalkeeper Sam Russell to claim an opening day win against a well drilled Newport County side. The Quakers' shot stopper was barely called upon during a first half in which striker Liam Hatch grabbed an early goal. Darlington looked solid enough during the first forty-five minutes. However after the break County enjoyed an excellent spell in which they should have equalised. They were denied though by a string of great saves from Russell. [Read more]
Quakers kick-off their Blue Square Premier campaign by welcoming freshly promoted Newport County to the Arena this weekend. Following a fantastic season in the Conference South the Exiles, managed by former Wimbledon player Dean Holdsworth, will offer a difficult afternoon for Darlington. However while life at this level may be a relative unknown for Quakers' supporters the mood going into the season should be good. [Read more]
